Wasteful Days of High School Girls Review

Wasteful Days of High School Girls Review

This is actually my second time watching Wasteful Days of High School Girls. I originally watched it over a year ago and remembered almost nothing about it, which probably should’ve told me something going in.

The comedy is hit or miss. Some episodes are genuinely funny, and others feel kind of forced. The biggest problem for me was Saku Momoi (nicknamed “Loli” in the show). Her whole thing is being childish, and the humor around her leans entirely on that. Oh, you still believe in Santa? That’s the joke. Her episodes were honestly painful to sit through.

Most of the other characters are fine, but that’s about it. Nobody really stands out. There was one episode involving Hisui, the occultist girl, that led to an interesting paranormal setup, but it turned out to be an idea for a story by Nozomu Tanaka. That was probably the most memorable thing in the show, which isn’t saying a lot.

The one thing I’ll give it credit for is pacing. It kept things moving and I was never really waiting for episodes to end. For a comedy where a lot of the jokes didn’t land for me, that’s worth something.
